About DC Plunge:

DC Plunge is a spring break trip held in Southeast Washington DC sponsored by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. During this exciting, transformative week you will spend time out in the community learning directly about the city from residents, join in direct service with local ministries, receive teaching from leaders in biblical justice, and enjoy ample processing time and reflection with other college students. We center justice issues relevant to Washington DC today including gentrification, inequality, and immigration. It is a week that will shape vocation and how to approach following Jesus and loving our neighbors in a world of brokenness and beauty.

Cost and Registration:

The program is $270 and includes all food, housing, and transportation once you arrive at the program. Credit cards will be charged the first day of Plunge before check-in. Early bird for Mid-Atlantic students is $195 until 2/1/2025.

Pre-Plunge Questions

This program is relationally intensive. Days on the plunge usually last 12-14 hours. The program includes talking to strangers, taking public transit, sharing in small groups, and being with a group most of the time. Some weeks the group is around 10 people, other times it is around 50 people. How do you think that will be for you?

How can you emotionally/physically/spiritually prepare yourself?

This program includes teaching and group conversations about the intersection of following Jesus and current justice issues (like racism, immigration or gentrification). What’s been your exposure to the intersection of faith and justice?

Are there particular injustices that you’re interested in working on? What are you hoping to learn at the plunge?

Please note: All participants will be required to complete a 90 minute online pre-course and additional team debrief prior to attending the DC Plunge. A link for the course will be sent sometime in January.
